Help keep DFVrisk.com.au online and the research moving
Support independent research into how domestic and family violence systems can become safer, more effective and more accountable.
I make this research available because people should be able to examine the evidence for themselves. Keeping the website online has costs every year, and researching, checking and explaining the findings takes time. If you value this work, please help me keep DFVrisk.com.au available and develop what comes next. Your support helps cover the website and the time I put into the research, practical resources and conversations that can lead to better decisions.
Choose your level of support
Please select your quantity. Choose $10, $20, $100 or $1,000. For example, 4 × $100 = $400, or 8 × $100 = $800. You can also combine amounts in your cart.
Online payments are being set up. For support or commissioning enquiries in the meantime, please email chownegroup@gmail.com.
All amounts are in Australian dollars. These are one-off purchases, with no subscription. No GST is charged. Every support level includes the same generic PDF certificate of support and thank-you. Your order confirmation records the amount and quantity. No physical item is shipped.
Payments are received by Chowne Group Pty Ltd, ABN 35 682 160 890, to support DFVrisk.com.au. DFVrisk.com.au is not a charity or deductible gift recipient. The certificate is not a deductible-gift receipt or tax invoice.
Edition 2 is underway
The approximately 700-page ACT study, A System That Cannot See Itself, is edition 1. It took 2 years to research and write and was totally self-funded in between publishing, consulting, and delivering training.
I am working on edition 2, updating the evidence, testing the analysis and developing the proposals further. Your support helps make that work possible while keeping the current research available to read.
What your support helps fund
- Website hosting, domain renewal and the services needed to keep the site available.
- Research, source checking, writing and development of edition 2 and related resources.
- Independent legal advice where it can clarify the research questions.
- Time to grow the network, share findings and develop useful tools.
Research into harm and accountability
I am also examining questions about work health and safety duties in the ACT’s domestic and family violence response. Support can help fund document research and independent legal advice on whether those duties apply, whether they may have been breached, and what evidence would be needed to establish legal responsibility for adverse outcomes, including deaths by suicide.
These are questions for careful investigation. This appeal does not assert that the ACT Government or any individual has caused a death or is legally liable. The aim is to understand the evidence and identify ways to prevent harm.
Commission research for another state or territory
Would you like to make a similar independent review possible where you live? I welcome enquiries from individuals or organisations interested in commissioning a study of another Australian state's or territory's domestic and family violence system.
An indicative project budget is AUD $20,000. No GST is currently charged. The scope would be agreed before a quote is accepted or any payment is requested.
A project could examine the public record, risk management arrangements, evidence of outcomes and opportunities for improvement. The agreed deliverables might include a research report, an executive summary and practical recommendations.
The depth of the study, availability of evidence, timetable, publication arrangements and any external legal or specialist costs would be settled in writing. A commission funds the work; findings remain independent and are not predetermined by the sponsor.
