Risk thinking for domestic and family violence practice — An SRMBOK Guide
Prevention, Early Intervention & Community Programmes
Government and specialist domestic and family violence services provide essential support across Australia. Alongside these services, there are also independent and community-based organisations doing valuable work in prevention, early intervention, family support, resilience and addressing some of the underlying factors that can contribute to family distress.
The organisations listed below are not operated by DFV Risk and their inclusion does not constitute formal accreditation or endorsement. They are included as potentially useful resources for individuals, families, practitioners and communities.
Know of another useful programme?
We welcome suggestions for independent, community and not-for-profit programmes contributing to prevention, early intervention, family resilience and support. Inclusion is at the discretion of DFV Risk and does not constitute accreditation or endorsement.

The Youth Regiment — Early Intervention for Young People and Families
The Youth Regiment works with young people aged 12–17 and their families through structured early-intervention programmes focused on resilience, leadership, life skills, personal responsibility and family support. Its approach combines veteran-led mentoring, practical challenges, education and ongoing support, with the aim of intervening before difficulties escalate into more serious problems.
Raise Youth Mentoring — One-to-One Support for Young People
Raise Youth Mentoring provides early-intervention mentoring for young people aged 13–16, connecting them with trained volunteer mentors through structured programmes delivered in schools and online. The programmes focus on confidence, resilience, help-seeking, managing stress, strengthening relationships and developing hope for the future.
Help us prioritise
Our research agenda is driven by the urgent need for systemic reform in domestic and family violence policy. We aim to produce tools and analysis that offer the highest immediate utility to practitioners and policymakers.
If there is a specific risk assessment tool, governance framework, or validation study that would help your organisation improve safety outcomes, please let us know. We consider all external suggestions as we schedule our technical volumes.
Your input helps us ensure that our independent research remains relevant, practical, and focused on the most critical gaps in the current response system.
Suggestions are reviewed monthly by our research lead.
